*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pinchot Lake, located in Gifford Pinchot State Park in Pennsylvania, experiences the typical seasonal swings of small northeastern U.S. lakes. In spring (March–May) surface temperatures generally climb from roughly 40–60°F (4–15°C) as the water thaws and stratification begins. Summer highs (June–August) commonly reach about 68–80°F (20–27°C), with the warmest surface readings during heat spells occasionally approaching the low 80s °F (around 27–28°C). In fall (September–November) temperatures fall back to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C) as cooling and turnover occur. Winter months (December–February) often bring near‑freezing surface water around 32–39°F (0–4°C) and periods of ice cover are possible in sustained cold.
Swimming at Pinchot Lake is permitted but generally confined to designated beach areas and posted seasons when the park provides supervision and monitoring. The park manages access for safety reasons—lifeguards, water‑quality checks, and separation from boating areas reduce risks—so swimming outside marked zones or when the beach is closed is discouraged and may be prohibited. Visitors should follow posted rules and check current park notices for seasonal openings, advisories, or temporary restrictions.
