Ömmern in Västra Götaland County typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns of small Swedish lakes. In spring the water is cold, often around 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as snowmelt and cool air keep temperatures down. By early summer in June the surface commonly rises to about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). The warmest period is usually July and August, when surface temperatures can reach roughly 18–22 °C (64–72 °F) on sunny years.
