** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lygnern is a long, relatively shallow lake in Västra Götaland County, Sweden, and its surface temperatures follow a typical northern temperate pattern. In spring (April–May) the water usually warms from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and sunlight increases. Early summer (June) commonly sees surface temperatures around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), while the warmest months, July and August, often reach 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) on sunny years, with occasional warm spots briefly above that. In autumn (September–October) temperatures fall back to roughly 10–15 °C (50–59 °F), and in winter the lake is cold, typically near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) where ice does not form or directly at freezing when it does.
Swimming at Lygnern is possible and frequently done from public beaches, piers and private shorelines during the warmer months because many access points are intended for bathing. However, parts of the lake are subject to local water protection rules and some areas contribute to municipal water supplies, so restrictions can apply in order to protect drinking water quality and sensitive shorelines. Bathers should therefore use designated swimming spots, respect local signage and take standard safety precautions such as being aware of depth, boat traffic and variable temperatures.
