** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Mjörn (Swedish: Mjörn) in Västra Götaland County is a temperate freshwater lake whose surface temperatures vary considerably through the year. In spring the water commonly warms from roughly 3–10 °C (37–50 °F) as ice melts and seasonal warming begins. Peak summer temperatures in July and August often reach about 15–24 °C (59–75 °F), though cooler summers can keep the water nearer 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). In autumn the lake cools back to roughly 5–15 °C (41–59 °F) as air temperatures fall, and in winter surface water is close to freezing where it remains unfrozen, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while parts of the lake may ice over.
Swimming in Mjörn is generally allowed and commonly practiced, supported by Sweden’s public right of access (Allemansrätten) and the lake’s accessibility from public shorelines. Recreational bathing is popular in summer when temperatures are most comfortable, and there are often informal spots used for swimming; local authorities may also monitor water quality at designated bathing sites. Swimmers should heed signage, be mindful of boat traffic and currents near inlets or outlets, and take extra precautions with cold or early/late season swims. Winter bathing or ice swimming is possible but requires careful safety measures and local knowledge.
