*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Stora Neten (Swedish name) in Halland County typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns of shallow to medium-depth lakes in southwest Sweden. In spring the water often ranges from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and sunshine increases. Early summer temperatures in June commonly reach 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), while the warmest weeks of July and August can see surface waters between roughly 17–24 °C (63–75 °F) on sunny years. In autumn the lake cools again to around 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), and through winter it usually sits close to freezing, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice cover possible in colder winters. Actual temperatures vary with depth, wind, inflow of rivers or groundwater, and short-term weather.
Swimming at Stora Neten is generally possible and commonly practiced during the warmer months because of Sweden’s public right of access and the presence of natural and managed bathing spots. Conditions are suitable for recreational swimming when surface temperatures are in the mid-teens °C (50s–60s °F) and higher, but visitors should respect local signs, water quality advisories and safety considerations such as sudden depth changes, underwater vegetation and changing weather. In winter, water temperatures make regular swimming unsafe without special equipment and training.
