*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Little Muskego Lake, in southeastern Wisconsin, experiences clear seasonal changes in surface water temperature. In spring the surface typically warms from about 40–60°F (4–15°C) as ice melts and days lengthen. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures commonly ranging from roughly 70–80°F (21–27°C) and occasionally rising into the low 80s°F (27–28°C) during heat waves; deeper water remains cooler. In autumn the lake cools again, often falling to 50–65°F (10–18°C) as air temperatures drop. In winter the surface approaches freezing, around 32°F (0°C), and under-ice temperatures generally stay close to 32–39°F (0–4°C). Actual readings vary with weather, wind, water depth and local inflows.
Recreational swimming is generally permitted on Little Muskego Lake and it is commonly used for boating and shore swimming during the warmer months because summer surface temperatures are often within a comfortable range for swimmers. However, swimming availability can be limited by posted local rules, water-quality advisories (for example from algal blooms or bacteria), and the absence of lifeguards at many access points. Cold spring or late-fall water can pose risks of cold shock, and winter ice cover makes swimming unsafe; checking current conditions and advisories before entering the water is recommended.
