*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Powers Lake in Wisconsin follows the seasonal pattern typical of Midwestern inland lakes. In winter the surface commonly sits at or just below freezing, around 32°F (0°C) under ice, with deeper water only slightly warmer. Spring warming moves surface temperatures into the 40s–50s°F (4–13°C) as ice melts and runoff cools the lake. By summer, surface waters commonly reach the 70s°F, often 70–78°F (21–26°C) in July and August, and during warm spells shallow bays can approach the low 80s°F (27–28°C). In autumn the lake cools back through the 50s–60s°F (10–16°C) as air temperatures fall. Local conditions such as wind, depth and sunlight can make distinct temperature differences between bays and main basins.
Swimming at Powers Lake is generally possible where public or private access is provided and where local ordinances and water-quality monitoring permit it. Recreational use is common in summer when surface temperatures are comfortable for bathing; however water clarity, aquatic vegetation and occasional blue-green algae blooms can prompt advisories that temporarily limit swimming. Shoreline areas and shallow zones warm fastest and are most popular for swimmers, while colder, deeper water increases hypothermia risk even on warm days. As with any lake, checking current local guidance on water quality and access is advisable before swimming.
