*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Muskego Lake in southeastern Wisconsin experiences pronounced seasonal shifts in water temperature. In spring the lake is cool, often ranging from the low 40s to the upper 60s °F (about 5–20 °C) as it stratifies. Peak summer surface temperatures in July and August commonly reach the mid-70s to low 80s °F (24–28 °C), and shallow bays can warm a bit higher on hot, calm days. By early fall temperatures usually fall back into the 50s and 60s °F (10–20 °C) as the surface cools and mixing increases. In winter the surface approaches freezing, around 32 °F (0 °C), and the lake frequently freezes over enough for ice cover.
Swimming at Muskego Lake is generally permitted and popular at public access points and private shorelines because the lake is used for recreation and provides designated beach and launch areas. However, swimming is typically recommended only in marked or supervised areas because boating, submerged vegetation, and occasional water-quality issues such as elevated bacteria counts or cyanobacterial (blue-green algae) blooms can create hazards or lead to temporary advisories. Local parks departments post current advisories and conditions, so checking those before entering the water is advisable.
