*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Eagle Lake in Wisconsin typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to small inland lakes in the region. In spring the surface water commonly warms from near-freezing after ice-out to roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C) as air temperatures rise. Summer surface temperatures often range from about 70–80°F (21–27°C), with shallow bays occasionally reaching the mid‑80s °F (near 29°C) on hot, calm days. In autumn the lake cools back to roughly 50–65°F (10–18°C) as cooling air and turnover set in. During winter the surface is usually at or just above freezing, with ice cover and near‑surface temperatures around 32°F (0°C) while deeper waters stay closer to 39°F (4°C), the density maximum for fresh water.
Swimming at Eagle Lake is generally possible during the ice‑free months and is commonly enjoyed in summer because of the warmer surface temperatures. Whether swimming is officially allowed depends on local rules, beach access and posted health advisories; authorities may close swimming areas for safety, high winds, hazardous conditions or harmful algal blooms (cyanobacteria). Ice swimming is risky and not recommended unless organized with safety measures. Swimmers should check local signage, water quality reports and use standard precautions such as not swimming alone and being aware of sudden depth changes.
