** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Embalse de Yesa, located in Navarre in the foothills of the Pyrenees, has water temperatures that vary considerably through the year because of its elevation, inflows and depth. In summer the surface can warm to roughly 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) on mild to hot days, while late spring and early autumn typically see temperatures around 8–18 °C (46–64 °F). In winter the reservoir is cold, often dropping to about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) at the surface and colder at depth; strong thermal stratification and sudden inflows from snowmelt or storms can produce rapid local changes in temperature. Deeper water remains markedly cooler year-round, so the temperature experienced while swimming depends strongly on location and time of year.
Swimming at Embalse de Yesa is often discouraged and in many areas subject to restrictions rather than being openly promoted. Reasons include its role as a water-management reservoir, variable water levels, submerged obstacles and steep, rocky banks that create safety hazards, and the possibility of sudden releases or strong currents near infrastructure. There are few lifeguards or facilities, and local regulations or signage may prohibit bathing in some zones. Some people do swim there during warm months in unofficial spots, but authorities typically recommend checking current rules and exercising caution because safety and water-quality considerations can limit or forbid swimming.
