*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Ibón de Escalar is a high‑mountain lake in the Aragonese Pyrenees whose water temperatures reflect its altitude and seasonal snowmelt. In summer, surface temperatures typically range from about 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), with the warmest spells occasionally pushing toward 15 °C (59 °F) on very calm, sunny days. In late spring and early autumn the lake is much colder, commonly between 3–8 °C (37–46 °F) as meltwater and cool nights keep the basin chilled. During winter the ibón is frequently at or just above freezing, about 0–2 °C (32–36 °F), and it may be frozen over for long periods depending on snow cover and cold snaps.
Swimming in the Ibón de Escalar is physically possible in the brief summer window, but it is generally not recommended except for experienced cold‑water swimmers because of the low temperatures, rapid heat loss and hypothermia risk. Additionally, many high mountain lakes lie within protected natural areas and bathing is discouraged or subject to local restrictions to preserve delicate ecosystems and water quality. Visitors should follow posted rules, respect conservation measures and judge conditions carefully rather than assuming typical lowland swimming behavior is safe here.
