** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Laguna de Pitillas, a shallow wetland in Navarre, experiences noticeable seasonal variation in water temperature because of its limited depth and exposure to continental Mediterranean weather. In winter the water commonly sits around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), with colder spells sometimes dropping it a few degrees lower. Spring brings a steady rise, typically to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as air temperatures warm and daylight increases. By summer the surface can warm considerably, often reaching about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) on sunny days, though cooler pockets and nightly drops are common. Autumn temperatures tend to fall again into a mid-range near 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as the lagoon responds to shorter days and cooler nights.
Swimming at Laguna de Pitillas is generally not allowed and is discouraged for conservation and safety reasons. The site is a protected wetland important for birdlife and aquatic ecosystems, so access to the water is restricted to prevent disturbance, habitat degradation and pollution. Additionally, the shallow, vegetation-rich waters present safety challenges — sudden drop-offs, submerged plants and variable water quality can make bathing hazardous. Visitors can enjoy the lagoon from marked viewpoints and walking paths, but bathing is typically prohibited in order to preserve the ecological character of the reserve.
