*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Tiorati, in Harriman State Park, experiences the seasonal temperature swings typical of small temperate lakes. Surface temperatures in winter hover around freezing to the low 40s Fahrenheit (about 0–4 °C), while spring brings a gradual rise into the 40s and 50s °F (4–15 °C). In mid to late summer the surface often warms to roughly 68–78 °F (20–26 °C), though the deepest water remains noticeably cooler because of stratification. By autumn the lake cools again into the 50s–60s °F (10–18 °C), with rapid drops after the first cold snaps. These ranges are approximate and can vary with weather, depth, and wind conditions, so local measurements or postings give the most current picture.
Swimming is permitted in Lake Tiorati at designated beach areas during the park’s beach season, when staff and lifeguards may be present and signage indicates safe conditions. Outside that supervised period, swimming is technically possible but is typically discouraged because of the lack of lifeguards, colder or unpredictable water temperatures, and the potential for water-quality advisories such as algal blooms or bacterial contamination. Visitors should heed posted rules and warnings, and understand that deeper parts of the lake remain much colder than the surface, which affects safety and comfort.
