*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Lila is a remote Adirondack wilderness lake, and its water temperatures reflect the regional climate and depth. In winter the lake typically freezes and surface temperatures hover at or just below 32°F (0°C) under ice. During spring the surface warms slowly, commonly ranging from about 35–55°F (2–13°C) as snowmelt and cool nights keep temperatures low. The warmest period is mid to late summer, when surface readings most often fall between roughly 60–75°F (15–24°C), with occasional warmer pockets on sunny days. In autumn the water cools again, moving from the 50s °F (10–15°C) down toward near-freezing as ice begins to form.
Swimming is generally allowed in Lake Lila because it is a public, state-managed wilderness waterbody without a specific ban on bathing; however, there are no developed beaches, lifeguards, or facilities, and motorized boats are restricted to preserve the area’s character. Water quality is typically good given the low development, but cold temperatures, sudden weather changes, and limited help make hypothermia and other risks real concerns outside peak summer warmth. For most visitors, swimming is safest during July and August when surface temperatures are highest and conditions are most benign.
