** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Küçükçekmece (Küçükçekmece Gölü) is a shallow, brackish lagoon on the European side of Istanbul whose surface temperature varies with the seasons and local weather. In winter the water typically cools to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). Spring sees a gradual rise to about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as sunlight and river inflows warm the lagoon. In summer, especially in calm, sunny periods, surface temperatures commonly reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) and can occasionally climb into the upper 20s °C (around 82 °F) on very hot days. Autumn brings cooling back toward roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) as winds and lower air temperatures dominate.
Despite these temperatures, swimming is generally not encouraged across much of the lake. Küçükçekmece has long been affected by urban runoff, industrial and sewage discharges and periodic algal blooms, which degrade water quality and ecological status; for that reason authorities have at times restricted bathing and recreational use. Local factors such as shallow depths, variable currents near the connecting channel to the Sea of Marmara, and occasional contamination pockets mean that even when temperatures are comfortable, swimming is often inadvisable unless undertaken in officially sanctioned, monitored areas with confirmed water-quality testing.
