Sapanca Gölü (Lake Sapanca) in Sakarya is a shallow inland lake whose surface temperature changes noticeably with the seasons. In winter months temperatures commonly sit around 5–9 °C (41–48 °F), while spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 9–17 °C (48–63 °F). Peak warmth occurs in summer, when surface readings typically reach about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), and early autumn sees a cooling to roughly 15–21 °C (59–70 °F). These figures vary with weather, wind and depth: shallow bays warm faster, whereas deeper or shaded areas remain cooler. Temperature stratification can be limited because the lake is relatively well mixed during windy periods.
