*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Engsøen in the Region of Southern Denmark is a relatively shallow, temperate lake, so its water temperature follows the typical seasonal pattern of Danish lowland lakes. In spring (March–May) surface temperatures generally rise from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as air temperatures increase. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures commonly between 16–22 °C (61–72 °F), though shallow bays can warm a few degrees higher on hot, calm days. During autumn (September–November) temperatures fall back to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), and in winter (December–February) the lake often cools to near freezing at the surface, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with complete ice cover possible in cold winters. Actual values depend on recent weather, wind, and the lake’s depth and vegetation.
Swimming at Engsøen is generally possible and frequently practiced because many Danish lakes are public and used for recreation, but practical access and safety depend on local conditions and signage. Bathing is advisable mainly in summer when temperatures are comfortable and water quality is acceptable; warmer spells can also raise the risk of algal blooms, so visitors should heed posted water-quality notices. There are usually no lifeguards, depths vary and margins can be muddy, so swimmers should exercise standard precautions, check local guidance, and avoid entering after heavy runoff or if warnings are posted.
