*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Caddo Lake’s shallow, tannin-stained waters warm and cool with the seasons. Surface temperatures in winter typically fall into the 40–55°F range (4–13°C), while spring sees a steady rise to roughly 55–70°F (13–21°C). By summer the lake commonly reaches the mid-70s to mid-80s, about 75–87°F (24–31°C), and autumn brings cooling back toward the 60–75°F band (16–24°C). Local weather, wind, and recent rainfall can shift these figures, and deeper or shaded bayous and sloughs will usually be a few degrees cooler than open water.
Swimming at Caddo Lake is not prohibited in a blanket sense, but there are few if any formal, lifeguarded beaches on the Louisiana side, and many visitors avoid swimming because of practical safety concerns. The lake is full of submerged stumps, cypress knees and dense vegetation that reduce visibility and pose entanglement risks; water is often tea-colored, limiting sightlines. Alligators and other wildlife are present, and water quality can vary, so some areas may carry bacterial or algal risks at times. For those choosing to enter the water, using caution, checking local advisories, and preferring calm, open spots with a companion or flotation are prudent.
