*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Brandt, a reservoir in the Piedmont region near Greensboro, typically shows the seasonal temperature patterns expected of shallow-to-moderate depth lakes in central North Carolina. In summer the surface water commonly warms into the mid-70s to mid-80s °F (about 24–30 °C), while late spring and early fall temperatures often sit in the range of roughly 50–70 °F (10–21 °C) as air temperatures moderate. During winter the lake can cool to the mid-30s to around 50 °F (2–10 °C) on average; near-surface temperatures may occasionally approach freezing on very cold spells but more often remain above freezing except in brief cold snaps.
Swimming in Lake Brandt is generally not permitted because the lake is managed as part of the municipal water supply and for public-safety and water-quality protection. Restrictions are intended to minimize contamination risks and to limit hazards associated with unguarded, natural-water swimming; posted regulations and management plans reflect those concerns. While direct swimming access is therefore restricted, the lake is used for other recreational activities under city rules, and people interested in open-water swimming typically use designated community pools or approved recreational areas that are specifically maintained and supervised for that purpose.
