*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Braies (Lago di Braies) is a high-altitude alpine lake, so its water remains cold year-round. In winter the surface often freezes and water temperatures hover around 0 °C (32 °F). During spring months the lake still feels frigid, typically ranging from about 1–8 °C (34–46 °F) as snowmelt feeds the basin. In summer, on the warmest days the surface can warm to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), occasionally reaching around 20 °C (68 °F) in a heat wave, but the overall impression is of clear, brisk water. Come autumn temperatures fall again toward single digits, roughly 6–10 °C (43–50 °F) before ice forms.
Swimming is generally discouraged and in many practical terms not permitted at Lake Braies to protect the sensitive alpine environment, preserve water quality and shorelines, and for visitor safety. Local management and signage ask visitors to avoid bathing; the lake is primarily managed for conservation and low-impact recreation such as walking the shore and rowing small boats in designated areas during summer. Beyond regulations, the cold temperatures can pose real risks of cold-water shock and hypothermia even to experienced swimmers, so entering the water is not recommended except where clearly allowed and supervised.
