*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Snåsavatnet is a large lake in Trøndelag County, Norway, and its Norwegian name is Snåsavatnet. Water temperatures vary with season and depth: in spring (April–May) surface temperatures commonly range from about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F), while summer (June–August) sees the warmest surface waters, typically around 14–22 °C (57–72 °F) on sunny, calm days. In autumn (September–November) surface values usually fall back to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). Deeper layers remain noticeably colder year-round, often staying in the single digits (about 4–8 °C, or 39–46 °F) even during warm months. In winter the lake can approach freezing and parts may ice over, with open water temperatures near 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) where unfrozen.
Swimming in Snåsavatnet is generally permitted and used recreationally; Norway’s public right of access (allemannsretten) allows people to bathe and enjoy shoreline areas. Most swimming takes place in summer when surface temperatures are comfortable, while winter swimming is limited to experienced ice swimmers who take precautions. As with any natural waterbody, local conditions—water clarity, weather, wind, and ice cover—affect safety, so swimmers should check conditions, dress appropriately for temperature, and use caution when entering deeper or colder water.
