Stor-blåsjön (Swedish: Stor-blåsjön) is a mountain lake in Jämtland County where seasonal water temperatures vary markedly. In summer, surface temperatures commonly range from about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) and in warm spells can reach 20–22 °C (68–72 °F) in sheltered, shallow bays. During spring and early summer, after ice melt, temperatures are typically low, around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). In autumn the water cools again to roughly 4–10 °C (39–50 °F). In winter the lake is usually ice-covered and the water beneath the ice sits close to 0 °C (32 °F); any open-water holes used for winter bathing will be at or just above freezing.
Swimming at Stor-blåsjön is generally permitted as it is natural public water, and many people swim there in summer where shore access allows. There are usually no formal bathing facilities or lifeguards, so swimmers should judge conditions themselves, be aware of cold-water shock and hypothermia risks, and use wetsuits or flotation for longer swims.
