*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Jackson Lake in central Georgia experiences seasonal surface temperatures that follow the region’s warm-humid climate. In winter the lake commonly drops into the 40s to low 50s °F (about 4–11 °C). Spring brings a steady rise, with surface temperatures typically in the 50s to upper 60s °F (10–20 °C). Summer is when water is warmest, often ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s °F (24–29 °C), occasionally higher during heat waves. Autumn cooling usually places the lake back into the 60s to low 70s °F (15–23 °C) before winter chill returns. Local weather, depth, and inflows can cause short-term variation, so exact temperatures at any swim spot will fluctuate.
Swimming is permitted at Jackson Lake in designated places such as the state park beach and other public recreation areas, but practices are shaped by safety and water conditions. Designated swimming zones are chosen to reduce conflicts with boat traffic and to provide safer shoreline entry; outside those areas swimming is at one’s own risk and may be discouraged near marinas, boat ramps, or heavy boat lanes. Water quality advisories, algae blooms, and the seasonal cold of early spring or winter can also limit safe swimming, and many public beaches do not maintain lifeguards year‑round, so visitors should check current conditions and follow posted rules before entering the water.
