In winter months the surface typically cools to roughly 35–50°F (1–10°C), while spring brings a steady rise into the 50–70°F (10–21°C) range as the lake warms. Peak summer surface temperatures are commonly between 75–85°F (24–29°C), and in shallow coves and on calm, sunny days parts of the lake can reach the upper 80s°F (29–32°C). During autumn the water usually moderates again to roughly 60–75°F (15–24°C) as air temperatures decline. Deeper water remains colder year-round, so these figures are representative of near-surface conditions where swimming and boating occur.
