*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Indian Lake in western Ohio experiences marked seasonal changes in water temperature. In spring the lake surface typically warms from the mid-40s to the low 60s °F (about 7–17 °C) as air temperatures rise and snowmelt subsides. By summer the surface commonly reaches the 70s to mid-80s °F (roughly 21–30 °C) on warm, sunny days, especially in July and August when swimming is most comfortable. In early fall temperatures generally fall back into the 50s and 60s °F (10–20 °C) as cooling air temperatures and longer nights take effect. During winter the lake can be near freezing, often in the low 30s to upper 30s °F (0–4 °C) at the surface, and portions may ice over depending on the season’s severity.
Swimming at Indian Lake is permitted in designated areas and at managed beaches within the state park and local facilities, but it is not unrestricted everywhere because of boating, watercraft traffic, and habitat considerations. Lifeguards and posted rules may govern specific beach hours, and water-quality advisories occasionally limit swimming after heavy rains or algal blooms. Cold spring or fall water can pose a hypothermia risk even when air temperatures feel mild, and winter conditions make swimming unsafe; for these reasons visitors should use marked swimming zones, heed local signage, and check current conditions before entering the water.
