*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Delaware Lake, the reservoir at Delaware State Park in central Ohio, follows the seasonal temperature pattern common to midwestern impoundments. In winter the surface commonly approaches freezing, around 32°F (0°C) or slightly lower where ice forms. Spring warming typically brings surface temperatures up into the 40s–60s°F (about 4–16°C) as snowmelt and runoff mix the water. By summer the lake often reaches the high 60s to upper 70s°F (20–26°C) and on hot stretches can climb into the low to mid 80s°F (27–29°C) at the surface; deeper water remains cooler. In autumn the surface cools again, generally moving through the 50s–60s°F (10–18°C) before winter refreezing.
Swimming is allowed in the reservoir environment under the control of Delaware State Park, but typically only in designated areas and during the warmer months when water temperatures are suitable. Restrictions exist because the lake serves multiple uses — flood control, boating, and fishing — and because safety and water quality vary across the reservoir. Boating traffic, variable depths and currents, and occasional algal blooms mean swimmers should use marked swim zones, heed park signage and advisories, and be aware that lifeguards may not be provided.
