** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Caesar Creek Lake in southwestern Ohio experiences a wide range of surface water temperatures through the year. In winter the lake often approaches freezing, commonly in the low 30s °F (around 0–4 °C) and sometimes forming ice cover in sheltered areas. Spring sees a rapid rise from roughly the 40s to the 50s °F (about 4–15 °C) as runoff and air temperatures warm. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface readings in the upper 60s to low 80s °F (around 20–28 °C) and occasional peaks into the mid‑80s °F (near 29 °C) on hot spells. By fall the water cools again into the 50s–60s °F (10–18 °C) before returning to winter lows. These seasonal ranges influence comfort, buoyancy and biological activity, and local conditions can vary with weather, depth and flow.
Swimming is allowed at designated areas of Caesar Creek State Park during the official beach season, where the park provides a regulated spot for public use and often conducts water quality monitoring and safety checks. Outside the designated beach, swimming may be discouraged or restricted because of boat traffic, sudden drop‑offs, underwater hazards and varying water quality. Cold months present additional risks such as cold shock and thin ice, so recreational swimming is generally limited to the warmer months and to locations approved by park staff for safety.
