*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The lake formed by the Embalse de Francisco Abellán in Andalusia typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to inland reservoirs in southern Spain. In winter surface temperatures often sit between about 8 and 12 °C (46–54 °F), rising through spring to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) as air temperatures warm. By midsummer the reservoir surface can reach approximately 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) on warm sunny days, while early autumn generally brings a gradual cooling to around 14–22 °C (57–72 °F). Actual temperatures vary with depth, inflows and weather; shallow bays warm faster, while deeper or shaded areas remain markedly cooler.
Swimming at Embalse de Francisco Abellán is subject to local regulation and is often restricted. Many reservoirs in the region are managed primarily for water supply, irrigation and flood control, so bathing is sometimes officially prohibited to protect water quality and for safety reasons such as sudden releases, submerged hazards and variable currents. Where authorities have designated safe recreational areas or when local rules permit, people may swim at their own risk, but it is important to heed signage and municipal rules. Because conditions and rules change, checking with local authorities before planning to swim is advisable.
