The Pantano de Benínar, in the Alpujarra and Filabres area of Almería, experiences clear seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter the reservoir typically cools to around 8–12 °C (46–54 °F). Spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), while summer surface temperatures commonly reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) on warm days; in very hot spells shallow areas can briefly warm toward the upper end of that range. In autumn temperatures fall back through the teens to the lower ranges noted for spring.
