** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir in Extremadura known as Embalse de la Serena experiences a wide annual variation in surface water temperature. In spring the water typically warms from about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) as air temperatures rise and sunlight increases. Summer surface temperatures commonly reach 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) on warm days, especially in shallow bays and sheltered areas. During autumn the reservoir cools back to roughly 14–20 °C (57–68 °F), while winter surface values often fall into the 6–12 °C range (43–54 °F), with colder spells producing still lower readings in deeper or wind-exposed zones.
Swimming at Embalse de la Serena is possible in many parts of the reservoir but is subject to local rules, water-quality conditions and safety considerations. Some access points are used for bathing and informal recreation during warm months, but there are also areas where swimming is discouraged or restricted because of boat traffic, submerged structures, variable currents, water-management operations and occasional algal growth. There are few if any lifeguarded beaches, so visitors should check signage, local guidance and recent water-quality information before entering, and avoid swimming when temperatures are very low or when quality or safety warnings are posted.
