*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir Embalse de Orellana in Extremadura, Spain, offers a welcome inland swimming opportunity thanks to its clear waters and well-equipped beach area. While precise year-round water-temperature data are seldom published, local sources and visitor reports suggest that in winter the surface water often rests around 6–10 °C, rises to about 14–18 °C in spring, and reaches a comfortable 20–26 °C (and in some sheltered shallows up to 28 °C) in the height of summer. In autumn the reservoir gradually cools back toward the mid-teens as ambient temperatures fall.
Swimming is indeed allowed and well set up at the so-called “Playa Costa Dulce” on Orellana Beach, which has even received the Blue Flag certification for the quality of its natural waters and facilities. Because the reservoir is relatively calm, shallow in beach zones and monitored that makes it a suitable spot for bathing, boating and canoeing. Nonetheless, swimmers should always remain aware of changing depths and boating traffic; safe enjoyment is best in marked beach areas rather than venturing into the deeper reservoir sections.
