*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The lake Embalse de Zalamea (Spanish: Embalse de Zalamea) is a reservoir in Extremadura whose surface water follows the seasonal climate of the region. Typical water temperatures range from about 8–12 °C (46–54 °F) in winter, rising to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) in spring. In summer the reservoir can warm significantly, often reaching 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) on the sunlit shallows, while autumn sees a gradual cooling to around 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). These values vary with depth, recent weather, inflows and reservoir management, so local conditions may differ from year to year.
Swimming at the Embalse de Zalamea is commonly practiced, particularly in summer when temperatures are more comfortable, but it is subject to local regulations and safety considerations. Authorities may permit bathing in designated zones yet restrict access where there are strong currents, submerged structures, water extraction points, boat traffic, poor water quality or algal blooms. Because reservoir water levels can change quickly for irrigation or hydropower releases, signs and municipal guidance should be consulted before entering the water. When allowed, swimmers should be cautious of cold deeper water, limited visibility and boat activity.
