*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir Embalse del Cubilar (Spanish: Embalse del Cubilar) in Extremadura experiences clear seasonal variation in water temperature typical of inland Iberian reservoirs. In winter the surface temperature commonly sits around 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), rising through spring to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Peak warmth usually occurs in July and August when surface temperatures often reach 22–28 °C (72–82 °F), and early autumn sees a gradual cooling to about 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). These ranges can fluctuate year to year depending on rainfall, air temperature and water depth; deeper or shaded areas remain noticeably cooler than shallow bays.
Swimming is frequently practiced at Embalse del Cubilar, but permissibility depends on local rules and the specific area of the reservoir. Some reservoirs in the region allow recreational bathing while others restrict it for safety, water supply or environmental reasons; at Cubilar, access is generally available though formal lifeguard services are uncommon. Visitors should be aware of variable water quality, changing levels, submerged obstacles and boat traffic, all of which affect safety. For these reasons swimming is advisable only in calm, designated zones and when conditions and local signage indicate it is permitted.
