*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Cumbria
Devoke Water, a remote upland lake on Birker Fell in the southwestern Lake District, is known for clear, cold water. Seasonal surface temperatures typically sit around 10–16°C (50–61°F) in summer, 4–10°C (39–50°F) through spring and autumn, and hover near 0–4°C (32–39°F) in winter; deeper water and bad weather can make conditions several degrees colder. There are no formal bathing facilities, so wild swimming is possible but not supervised. Because of low temperatures, steep banks, submerged hazards and rapidly changeable weather, most guides recommend caution: avoid swimming alone, consider a wetsuit or short exposures, and be prepared for limited access to help.
Beyond swimming, the area attracts walkers and nature lovers. The surrounding Birker Fell offers ridge walks and wide views, and on clear days you can see out toward the Duddon Valley and the Irish Sea. Nearby valleys and fells provide further hiking, birdwatching and the sense of solitude that draws people to this quieter corner of Cumbria.
