** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Chilliwack Lake, located in the rugged Cascade Mountains of British Columbia near the U.S. border, is a glacially fed lake known for its striking blue-green water and mountain scenery. Because of its high elevation and cold inflows from snowmelt and streams, the lake remains quite cool throughout the year. In early spring, surface temperatures are typically around 39–46°F (4–8°C), gradually rising to about 52–59°F (11–15°C) by late May. During the warmest months of July and August, the surface can reach 62–68°F (17–20°C), but below a few meters the temperature drops sharply. By late September, cooling air and reduced sunlight bring the water back down to 55°F (13°C) or lower.
Swimming is permitted at Chilliwack Lake, particularly in the designated beach areas near Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park. However, due to the lake’s depth and cold water, swimming is generally considered suitable only for short periods or for those accustomed to cooler temperatures. Many visitors enjoy quick dips during summer, especially on calm, sunny days when the surface feels warmer. The lake’s clarity and scenic surroundings make it a pleasant spot for recreation, but swimmers should be cautious of the cold and avoid venturing far from shore, as hypothermia can occur even in midsummer.
