** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Harrison Lake, located in British Columbia, is a large, glacier-fed lake, which dictates its cold water temperatures. Even during the peak summer months, the main body of water remains quite cool. While average air temperatures are comfortable, the lake water rarely exceeds 17∘C to 20∘C (63∘F to 68∘F), which is cold enough to induce cold shock quickly. In the winter, the water cools considerably, dropping to the range of 4∘C to 10∘C (39∘F to 50∘F), and the deep water always retains its near-freezing core temperature.
Swimming is generally permitted and popular, especially near the resort town of Harrison Hot Springs. The best swimming opportunity is in the man-made Harrison Lagoon, a shallow area separated from the main lake by a sand bar, which warms up significantly in the summer, making it comfortable. However, swimming in the main lake is often restricted to brief dips due to the risk of cold shock and hypothermia inherent to glacier-fed waters. Visitors should be aware that the lake is known for unpredictable, strong wind gusts and deep water, meaning any swimming outside of the designated lagoon or supervised areas like the inflatable water park is strictly at one's own risk.
