** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Cultus Lake, located south of Chilliwack in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, is one of the region’s warmest and most popular freshwater lakes. Its water temperature is influenced by its moderate depth and the valley’s warm summer climate. In early spring, the lake is still cool, averaging around 46–50°F (8–10°C) as runoff from nearby mountains fills it. By late May and June, the temperature rises steadily to about 59–66°F (15–19°C). During midsummer, from July through August, Cultus Lake typically reaches its warmest period, with surface temperatures between 70–75°F (21–24°C), especially in shallow bays and along sandy beaches. In autumn, cooling weather and shorter days gradually bring the water back below 59°F (15°C) by late September.
Swimming is allowed and widely enjoyed at Cultus Lake, particularly within Cultus Lake Provincial Park and nearby beaches. The lake’s clear, clean water and pleasant summer warmth make it ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and other water activities. Lifeguarded areas and gradual shorelines provide safe access for families and recreational swimmers. Although the deeper sections remain cooler, surface temperatures during summer are among the most comfortable in southwestern British Columbia. The best time for swimming is from late June through early September, when both the air and water temperatures are warm and stable.
