*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Lake of Butrint Lagoon (Liqeni i Butrintit) in Vlorë County, Albania, is a shallow, brackish water body connected to the Ionian Sea, and its temperature varies with the seasons and local weather. Typical winter surface temperatures range roughly from 12 to 15 °C (54 to 59 °F). In spring the water usually warms to about 14 to 20 °C (57 to 68 °F). During summer, sheltered shallows can reach around 22 to 28 °C (72 to 82 °F), and on very hot days small pockets can climb slightly higher. Autumn cooling generally brings temperatures down to about 18 to 24 °C (64 to 75 °F). These figures are approximate; the lagoon’s shallow depth and limited circulation mean it can heat up and cool down faster than the open sea.
Swimming in the Butrint lagoon is possible but not uniformly encouraged across the entire area. The site lies within a protected national park with important bird and aquatic habitats, so some zones are restricted to protect wildlife and archaeological sites. Where access is permitted, people do swim in summer because temperatures are comfortable and water is calm, but visitors should be mindful of soft mud, reeds, variable water quality, and occasional boat traffic. Always follow local signs and guidance to avoid sensitive areas and ensure safety.
