** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Korission Lagoon, on the southwestern coast of Corfu, is a shallow coastal lagoon with water temperatures that reflect both the Ionian climate and its limited depth. Typical seasonal ranges are about 13–16 °C (55–61 °F) in winter, 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) through spring, 22–28 °C (72–82 °F) in the warmest summer months, and 18–23 °C (64–73 °F) in autumn. Because the lagoon is shallow and partly separated from the open sea, it tends to warm faster in summer and cool faster in winter compared with deeper coastal waters; local winds and freshwater inputs can also cause short-term variability.
Swimming opportunities exist primarily along the sandy spits and adjacent sea beaches rather than throughout the inner lagoon. The inner waters are brackish, vegetated and ecologically sensitive; Korission is part of a protected wetland system, so access and recreational use are often discouraged or regulated to protect bird nesting and fragile habitats. Water in summer can feel pleasant for bathing, but inside the lagoon it may be murky or filled with aquatic plants and shallow mud, making it less suitable for typical swimming. Visitors should respect signage and local guidance, using the open-sea beaches when recreational swimming is desired.
