*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bryant Lake, like many small inland lakes in Minnesota, experiences a wide seasonal range of water temperatures. During winter months the surface is typically ice-covered and approaches freezing at about 32°F (0°C), while deeper water often remains nearer to 39°F (4°C) due to the density profile of freshwater. In spring as ice breaks up the lake commonly runs from roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C). By summer, surface temperatures frequently warm into the 70s°F, around 21–27°C, and on hot spells can climb into the upper 70s to low 80s°F (25–28°C). In autumn the lake cools again, with surface readings typically falling into the 50s–60s°F (10–16°C) before refreezing.
Swimming is generally practicable and permitted during the warmer months where public access points or designated swimming areas exist, primarily because summer surface temperatures provide comfortable conditions and reduced hypothermia risk. Outside that season, cold water temperatures in spring and fall increase the danger of cold shock and hypothermia, and winter ice cover prevents conventional swimming. Local access, posted regulations, and water-quality advisories (for example, algal blooms) determine whether bathing is allowed on any given day, so checking with local authorities or beach signage is advised before entering the water.
