** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Blewett Falls Lake, a reservoir on the Pee Dee River in southern North Carolina, experiences noticeable seasonal swings in surface water temperature. In winter months (December–February) surface temperatures commonly range from about 40–50°F (4–10°C). Spring (March–May) brings warming, typically seeing 50–68°F (10–20°C). Summer (June–August) is the warmest period, with surface measurements often between 72–86°F (22–30°C), although sheltered coves can be a few degrees warmer. In autumn (September–November) temperatures gradually fall back into the mid 50s to mid 70s°F (13–24°C). These values are approximate; actual temperatures depend on recent weather, depth, inflows and releases from the dam, and time of day.
Swimming is generally possible at Blewett Falls Lake, but the lake is primarily managed for boating and fishing rather than staffed swim areas. There are few, if any, lifeguarded public beaches, so swimmers typically use shorelines, boat docks or quiet coves at their own risk. Recreational swimming is limited by factors such as boat traffic, submerged timber and structure, sudden depth changes, and occasional water-quality advisories, so caution is advised. Because there may be no formal facilities or safety supervision, people should check local conditions, wear flotation as appropriate, and avoid high-traffic channels when entering the water.
