** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Arresø (Danish: Arresø) is the largest lake in Region Zealand and its water temperature follows the temperate Danish climate. In spring the surface typically warms from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as air temperatures rise and ice, if present, melts. Summer is the warmest period, with common surface temperatures of 17–24 °C (63–75 °F) and occasional short-lived peaks approaching the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F) during heatwaves. In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) and in winter surface temperatures are often close to freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with parts of the lake sometimes ice-covered in cold spells.
Swimming in Arresø is generally possible and practiced, particularly at designated bathing spots and accessible shores during the warmer months when temperatures are comfortable. Local authorities monitor bathing water quality and will advise against swimming if cyanobacterial blooms, pollution or heavy runoff have degraded conditions, so checking signage or municipal updates is recommended before entering the water. Be mindful that colder shoulder seasons carry risks of cold-water shock and reduced buoyancy; using appropriate clothing, supervising children and avoiding solitary swims improve safety.
