** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Roskilde Fjord, located on the island of Zealand in Denmark, typically experiences cool to mild water temperatures that vary considerably through the year. In winter the surface often ranges from about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring sees gradual warming to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). Summer surface temperatures in the sheltered, shallow parts of the fjord commonly reach 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on warm days, and in autumn the water usually cools back to around 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). Because the fjord is relatively shallow and protected from open-sea conditions, temperatures can rise faster in summer and drop quickly in colder months, with some local variation depending on depth, tidal exchange and weather.
Swimming in Roskilde Fjord is generally allowed and popular at designated beaches and marina areas, reflecting Denmark’s broad public access to the shoreline and local provision of bathing sites. Municipal authorities monitor water quality and post warnings or temporary closures when issues arise, for example after heavy rainfall, sewage overflow or visible cyanobacterial blooms in calm, warm conditions. Swimmers should therefore use marked bathing places, heed local signage, and be aware of boats and changing conditions even when water temperatures are comfortable.
