** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Çatalan Dam (Çatalan Barajı) forms a large reservoir near Adana and its water temperatures reflect the hot Mediterranean climate of the region. In summer the surface water commonly warms to roughly 24–30 °C (75–86 °F), making it feel quite pleasant for short dips; during spring and autumn the lake typically ranges from about 15–23 °C (59–73 °F) as air temperatures moderate. In winter the reservoir can be markedly cooler, with surface readings often between 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). Local conditions such as recent rainfall, wind and inflow from tributaries can cause short-term variations, and deeper water remains colder year-round than the surface.
Swimming at Çatalan is generally not organized or formally encouraged. The reservoir serves water-management purposes—irrigation, water supply and flood control—so there are no official supervised beaches and authorities often discourage swimming because of variable depths, submerged structures, boat traffic and the possibility of sudden releases or changes in water level. Water quality can also fluctuate and there are limited lifesaving services on site. Some locals do enter the water in warm months, but doing so carries safety and regulatory risks, so visitors should treat the area as non-designated for recreational swimming unless local authorities state otherwise.
