** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
In Tarsus the main inland water bodies are the Berdan (Tarsus) River and its associated reservoirs, and their temperatures follow a Mediterranean inland pattern. Typical seasonal surface temperatures for river shallows are roughly winter 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), spring 12–20 °C (54–68 °F), summer 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) and autumn 14–22 °C (57–72 °F). Reservoirs, being deeper, tend to stay a few degrees cooler in summer and slightly warmer in winter at depth; surface summer values are commonly around 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) with winter surface temperatures near 9–15 °C (48–59 °F). These are approximate typical ranges and can vary with flow releases from dams, recent rainfall and local weather.
Swimming opportunities in Tarsus’ rivers and reservoirs are limited and largely unofficial. Many stretches have variable currents, irrigation releases and dam-related hazards that make bathing unsafe, and water quality can be inconsistent near urban and agricultural runoff, so local authorities generally do not promote inland swimming. In warm summer months some residents may swim in calmer, shallow stretches or designated recreational areas on reservoirs where permitted, but caution is advised and official sea beaches in Mersin are the primary sanctioned bathing sites.
