*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Castro Daire (in Portuguese - Castro Daire) is a hilly inland municipality in Viseu District where small lakes and reservoirs fed by mountain streams are common. Water temperatures in these bodies vary by season: in winter surface temperatures typically sit around 8–12 °C (46–54 °F), spring sees 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) as waters warm, summer surface temperatures commonly rise to about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) on sunny days, and autumn usually cools back to roughly 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). These values are approximate and fluctuate with recent weather, water depth and flow; deeper or shaded parts remain noticeably colder than shallow bays.
Swimming is possible in parts of the Castro Daire area during warmer months, but opportunities are conditional. Some reservoirs and lakes are used for recreation and informal bathing when water quality and weather permit, yet many sites lack supervised beaches, lifeguards or official bathing classification. Additionally, certain reservoirs may restrict access because they serve as drinking-water sources, have safety hazards (steep banks, submerged obstacles) or experience algal episodes after heavy rains. Visitors should follow local signage and municipal guidance, check current water-quality information and choose sheltered, shallow spots if swimming, taking care with sudden depth changes and boat traffic.
