*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Santa Comba Dão (in Portuguese - Santa Comba Dão) is a small municipality in the Viseu District whose waterbodies include the reservoir on the Dão River that many locals refer to as the lake. Water temperatures there follow a typical inland-reservoir pattern: in winter surface temperatures often range from about 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), spring sees warming to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F), summer commonly brings 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) with occasional warmer spells approaching 26–28 °C (79–82 °F), and autumn cools back to around 14–20 °C (57–68 °F). These values can vary year to year with rainfall, air temperature and reservoir depth, and deeper water remains colder year-round.
Swimming is generally permitted in the lake but typically only in designated bathing areas or where local signage indicates it is safe; authorities may close spots temporarily for water quality concerns such as algal blooms or contamination, and some stretches are discouraged due to steep banks, underwater hazards or boat traffic. Lifeguards are not always present, so visitors should heed posted rules, check recent water-quality reports if available, and exercise caution with children or inexperienced swimmers. Seasonal conditions and official restrictions determine safe swimming opportunities more than a fixed prohibition.
