** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ungheni, situated in the temperate continental region of northeastern Romania, is bordered by small lakes and riverine basins whose temperatures follow the seasonal cycle. In spring, lake water typically rises from around 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) as ice melts and air temperatures warm. During the summer months, surface temperatures commonly reach 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), with the warmest readings in July and August. Early autumn sees a gradual cooling to roughly 14–20 °C (57–68 °F), while late autumn and winter bring temperatures down to about 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), with shallow bodies often freezing over during prolonged cold spells.
Swimming in Ungheni’s lakes is generally possible in the warm season but depends on local conditions and official permissions. Municipal authorities and environmental services may designate safe bathing areas and monitor water quality; where such supervision exists and microbiological and algal levels are acceptable, people commonly swim in summer because temperatures are comfortable. Outside the summer window, cold water, thin ice, limited visibility, and absence of lifeguards make swimming unsafe and often prohibited. Visitors should follow posted guidance, check recent water-quality notices, and consider both temperature and safety services before entering the water.
