** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bălți sits in a temperate-continental zone where rivers, small lakes and ponds show marked seasonal changes in surface water temperature. In spring (March–May) water temperatures typically rise from roughly 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as thawed runoff and cool air persist. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions: shallow lakes and slow-moving river stretches commonly reach about 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), and very shallow or sheltered ponds can warm slightly higher on hot spells. In autumn (September–November) temperatures fall back into the range of about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) early on and then drop toward 2–6 °C (36–43 °F) by late November. Winter (December–February) waters are near freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice cover possible on smaller bodies.
Swimming is seasonally possible during the warmer months when surface temperatures are comfortable, but there are relatively few formally supervised public beaches in the Bălți area. Local authorities or signs sometimes restrict bathing because of water quality, underwater hazards or lack of lifeguards, so many people swim informally at calmer spots. Winter swimming into near-freezing water is practiced by a minority but carries significant hypothermia and safety risks and is not generally recommended without proper precautions and official support.
