** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Orhei lies inland on the Răut River and is surrounded by small lakes and reservoirs whose surface temperatures follow a continental pattern. In winter the water is typically at or just above freezing, often 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and can form ice on shallower ponds. Spring brings a gradual rise, with waters averaging about 4–15 °C (39–59 °F) as snowmelt and runoff keep temperatures cool. In summer the shallow lakes and slow stretches of the Răut commonly warm to roughly 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), and in very warm, stagnant pools temperatures can reach around 28 °C (82 °F). Autumn sees cooling again, with typical ranges of 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) before winter freeze.
Swimming in Orhei is possible mainly during the warm months when surface temperatures are comfortable, but organized, supervised bathing areas are limited. Many people swim informally in the river or local ponds, yet authorities may close or discourage bathing at particular spots because of water quality issues, uneven bottoms, currents, lack of lifeguards and safety infrastructure. Ice swimming in winter is occasionally practiced but carries hazards and requires proper precautions. In short, summer conditions often permit recreational swimming, while spring, autumn and winter are generally too cold or unsafe without special measures.
